The “first snake noticed this season” at Merciful Hearts Farm in upstate South Carolina was a doozy. The 5.5-foot black rat snake tried to take down one of many farm geese. Fortunately, Farmer Al, aka Al Potter, knew simply what to do on this snake vs. duck battle.
Deb Potter filmed the encounter and posted it to the farm’s Instagram web page. She mentioned she and Al had another sheep to shear within the entrance pasture once they heard “an odd commotion below the automotive.”
Seems, a snake had grabbed a duck by the foot and wrapped itself round her.
“They have been wrestling & rolling below the automotive,” Potter writes within the video’s caption. Farmer Al pulls the entangled pair out from below the automotive and thoroughly disentangles them. It’s not a sight you see day by day.

The Potters measured the snake towards Al’s 5-foot criminal earlier than they launched it. They estimate it was a “pretty” 5.5-foot black rat snake. The primary snake sighting of the season at this household farm actually made an impression—on the duck and the web.
