Cute, Critically Endangered Animal Noticed on Path Cam


The cutest little critically endangered northern hairy-nosed wombat crossed paths with a path cam within the Richard Underwood Nature Refuge in southwest Queensland, Australia. Ecologists on the Australian Wildlife Conservancy (AWC) say there are solely about 400 northern hairy-nosed wombats left within the wild, so seeing one among these on their cameras was an thrilling second.

What makes the sighting much more uncommon is that this wombat is a juvenile.

“What’s rarer than a Northern Bushy-nosed Wombat? A juvenile Northern Bushy-nosed Wombat,” AWC wrote in an Instagram put up saying the uncommon footage. “It’s the primary juvenile to be noticed on the refuge in years – a constructive signal that the wombats are breeding once more.”
